Tesco’s online ordering site Tesco Direct put in on a strong performance on ‘Mega Monday’ – traditionally the busiest day for online retailers in the UK – according to research.
On Monday (30 November), Tesco Direct had 100% availability and an average site download speed of 1.88 seconds, Keynote Systems found.
However, its download speed – how long it takes for the site to appear on users’ screens – was slightly slower than the 1.66 seconds recorded last year.
Selfridges was judged the top-performing site, with a site download speed of just 0.79 seconds – a major improvement from the 4.15 seconds clocked last year.
“In the run-up to Christmas many websites struggle to cope with the demand during peak periods,” said Keynote’s Carina Hoogeveen.
“It is clear that many retailers in the UK have improved their performance since last year as more and more shoppers move online.”
