Arla targets zero-carbon milk bottle

In: Manufacturers, Industry news

| More

Arla Foods is hoping to use HDPE derived from sugar cane to boost its drive towards producing a zero-carbon milk bottle.

If agreement is reached following discussions with a supplier in Brazil, trial production will start in early 2011.

The move would significantly contribute to Arla's overall target of a 25% carbon reduction in packaging by 2012, said packaging manager Richard Taplin. "Incorporating 'green' HDPE into our polybottles fits perfectly with our Closer to Nature environmental ambition to have the least environmental impact possible."
