Innis & Gunn

Innis & Gunn has signed a deal to supply its beer to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.

Dxcel International will distribute the Scottish craft brewer’s flagship ale Original and Ossian, a golden ale by Inveralmond Brewery, which was acquired by the business in April last year.

Currently stocked in more than 25 countries, Innis & Gunn has become one of the UK’s most successful international craft beer companies.

Since 2003, the brand has reported continued year-on-year volume and sales growth, with an annual group turnover of £12.5m in 2015 - a 36% increase since 2012.

“Exports have always been very important to us since we started 13 years ago,” said Dougal Gunn Sharp, founder and master brewer at Innis & Gunn.

“We’ve seen our products do exceedingly well in Canada, the US and Sweden and we thought it was about time we headed into the largest beer market in the world.”

Kevin Cowman, commercial director at Dxcel International, added: “China excites us not only because of its size, but also its growing passion and thirst for great craft beer.”

Earlier this month Innis & Gunn collaborated with Dublin’s Teeling Whiskey to launch Kith & Kin, a Scottish stout aged in Irish whiskey barrels.

More than 130,000 limited-edition bottles of the black 5.8% beer, which is said to provide a ‘big hit of dark chocolate, coffee and treacle with hints of vanilla and spice’, have been produced with an rsp of £3.50/330ml.
