Kopparberg is following last month’s launch of its first beer, Fagerhult, by bringing Sweden’s leading speciality beer brand Höga Kusten to the UK next month.

The 5.3% ABV beer is a blend of two parts lager with one part ale, and described as having a “full-bodied malty taste with elements of apricot, Swedish molasses bread and orange peel”.

Höga Kusten is brewed at the Zeunerts Brewery in Solleftea, northern Sweden. The name, which translates as High Coast, refers to UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Gulf of Bothnia, where melting glaciers caused the land to rise further above sea level.

Zeunerts Brewery was founded in 1857, and was bought by Kopparberg in 2002.

“Höga Kusten is unique for its mass appeal that will see it find fans amongst the ale category and allow lager consumers to discover new flavours,” said Jodie Alliss, brand manager at Kopparberg. “Alongside the recently launched Fagerhult, also part of the Kopparberg family, it’s exciting to see Swedish beers making their mark in the world beer scene in the UK.”
