Asda is trialling a click & collect grocery drive thru model at six stores.

Customers wishing to use the drive thru option order groceries online and choose a two-hour collection time slot. They then drive to a collection point in the car park of their local superstore, where their order is loaded into their car. Asda is currently offering the service free of charge in three of the trial stores and charging a flat fee of £1.50 in the others.

Customer feedback had been positive, said Asda director of multi-channel strategy Jon Wragg. He added Asda was investigating a number of formats, and even considering attaching drive thru windows to stores.
