Cadbury ice cream

R&R Ice Cream has expanded its licensed Cadbury range with two new handheld products.

Limited-edition Cadbury Winter Wonderland Minis, shaped like a Christmas tree and covered in Cadbury chocolate, roll out later this month. They will be sold in a six-pack containing three milk chocolate sticks and three white chocolate (rsp: £2.50).

The Yorkshire-based supplier is hoping to tap growing demand for treat-sized indulgent products.

“The popular festive ice cream dessert market provides an incremental opportunity,” said R&R UK marketing head Charlotte Hambling.

The launch of the Winter Wonderland Minis follows the recent rollout of another treat-sized product by R&R. Cadbury Dairy Milk Minis & Crispies Minis, which went into Asda stores earlier this month, are sold in a six-pack containing three 50ml dairy Milk ice creams and three 50ml Crispies ice creams. The former is a miniature version of the ice cream stick that was reformulated and relaunched by R&R this April, while the latter is a new mini stick featuring vanilla ice cream covered in milk chocolate and caramel-coated cereal pieces.

R&R said it was aiming to capitalise on the growing indulgence handheld ice cream sector, which includes Unilever’s Magnum and rose 5.5% by value year on year this summer to £69.2m [Nielsen 16 w/e 19 June].

“As this sector of the market continues to grow, we are keen to offer innovative products that challenge key competitors,” said Hambling.
