Campaigns aid Nisa-Today’s in enlisting record new recruits
Nisa-Today’s has reported a record number of new members in the past three months, including the capture of discount operator Poundstretcher.
The buying group said it had recruited 80 new members since April an increase of 68% equating to 157 new stores. New recruits included convenience stores, forecourts and discounters and many had been attracted by the company’s first-ever national TV campaign launched over Christmas, as well as a membership recruitment campaign in the trade press, it claimed.
“Recruitment so far this year is strong and ahead of target, driven not only by our recruitment campaign, but also, given the uncertain economic climate, by many retailers seeking the support of a large buying group such as Nisa,” said Nisa group sales director Andrew Mouse. “We hope that we continue to recruit new members at this rate and firmly believe we have the best offer on the market for independent retailers.”
Last week discount retailer Poundstretcher became a member of Nisa-Today’s, a move that follows Poundstretcher’s recent expansion of its ambient grocery offer.
“My experience of Nisa in the past has always been very positive and I am confident joining the group will bring us many benefits,” said Poundstretcher fmcg buying controller Chris Beckingham. “Indeed, in the short time since joining, some have already materialised.”
Poundstretcher is the latest discounter to join Nisa-Today’s. Rival 99p Stores joined earlier this month, while Poundworld is also a member.
