Core range product push at Landmark
Landmark Wholesale is trialling a range of business development tools to promote core range products among retailers.
On Target encourages retailers to stock branded and own-label products; Cash-back aims to encourage members of its Lifestyle Express store redevelopment programme to stock own-label products; and Category Plus is a joint supplier and Landmark Wholesale incentive focusing on categories.
"The opportunity on core range stocking is worth millions," said Chris Doyle, Landmark business development director, adding that wholesalers needed to be as tenacious as brands such as Cobra, which was originally sold to Indian markets and hotels from the back of a Citroën.
"The wholesale sector must be equally single-minded about core range stocking in independents. Just because it is difficult to do, doesn't mean it's the wrong objective."
