Food minister Jim Paice MP underlined the foodservice sector’s critical role in the food supply chain during a visit to 3663’s Paddock Wood RDC in Kent.

Paice spent a morning discussing food supply chain issues with the company following a tour of the two-year-old depot. He was shown the solar panels for heating water, the way rain is used to wash vehicles and flush toilets, and the sun pipes and light refraction sheets that cut energy needed for lighting.

The visit was arranged by the FWD, which will take up the issues raised in a meeting next month.
