Subway seminar aims to boost presence in convenience stores

Subway and Applegreen opened first site last week

Sandwich giant Subway is hoping to ramp up its presence in the c-store sector after holding a seminar for would-be recruits.

The seminar, in Bridgwater, focused on the growing number of Subway concessions in ‘non-traditional locations’ such as forecourts, c-stores, hospitals and colleges. The chain has 1,650 stores in the UK, but only 250 are in non-traditional locations.

“The forecourt and convenience sector is a key area of growth for the Subway brand,” said area development manager Trevor Haynes.

Subway already works with Budgens, Euro Garages and Spar, and last week opened its first concession in an Applegreen forecourt.
