Ocado has merged its paid-for passes offering free deliveries and discounts into one scheme called Smart Pass.

At £10.99 a month, the Smart Pass will cost the same as Ocado’s existing Delivery Pass, which just offered free deliveries. But it will also incorporate the £8.99-a-year Savings Pass, enabling customers to benefit from discounts of 10% on more than 750 branded groceries at no additional cost.

Other benefits will include a subscription to Ocadolife magazine, priority access to Christmas deliveries and exclusive discounts.

Ocado said the new pass was simpler and cheaper for consumers. “They can sign up for one pass rather than two or three,” said Lawrence Hene, Ocado’s director of grocery retail and marketing. “It also offers better value for money.”

There are two versions of the Smart Pass - a full one for £10.99 a month and a cheaper, midweek £6.99 version, offering free deliveries on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only.

Delivery Pass holders have had their passes automatically upgraded and Savings Pass holders have been offered the new Smart Pass and given a pro-rata refund on the Savings Pass.
