Sainsbury’s has found a marketing director after a 19-month search.

Heineken UK marketing director Sarah Warby will take on the role next month with responsibility for marketing across brand communications, non-food, customer insights and loyalty.

Sainsbury’s has been without a marketing director since July 2010 when Gwyn Burr’s remit changed to customer service and colleague director. Mastercard’s Mark Horgan was appointed last August, but in December it was revealed he would not be joining for “personal reasons”.

Sainsbury’s group commercial director Mike Coupe said: “Sarah’s wealth of experience will strengthen our excellent team at an exciting time.”
