Indie forecourt operator Symonds Forecourts has opened its seventh store.

The retailer, which is run by Jeremy Symonds, the former owner of Smile Stores and wholesaler T&A Symonds, opened the Budgens-branded store in Wells, Somerset, last week.

The 2,174 sq ft store has hot food, an in-store bakery, a food-to-go range, frozen, chilled and fresh produce. Symonds said he hoped to generate sales of £30,000 per week, with 33% of sales from fresh food.

"We've made full use of social media by creating our own Facebook page, which already has over 140 followers," he added.
