Glasgow-based off licence and convenience chain G101 has reported a fall in sales and profits following a “tough year”.

The company, which also runs a wholesale division for BWS, household and snacking goods, saw sales fall 2.5% to £45.1m in the year to 31 May. Pre-tax profits fell from £631,000 to £216,000, according to results filed at Companies House this week.

In The Grocer’s poll of independents this week 51% said 2011 was a worse year than 2010. And 42% predicted that next year would be even worse.
