Delivered foodservice wholesaler 3663 has launched the industry’s first ordering app for the iPhone and iPad.

The free app, which is available from iTunes, allows customers to browse and place orders from 3663’s full product range. It stores shopping lists for customers who want to quickly place repeat orders, monitors stock levels and suggests alternatives if a product is out of stock.

“Our customers work in high-pressure environments. With this in mind, developing technology that allows them to use the little spare time they have more efficiently is extremely important,” said 3663 e-marketer Katherine Wyatt. “This new app will allow our busy customers to place orders in a moment, enabling them to dedicate more time to other tasks.

“Although there has been an image that chefs and computers don’t mix, we have seen an increase in the number of our customers using smartphones in their business,” she added.

The app was developed by Colony Commerce.

In October, Booker launched three apps for its customers. The first is a membership card that customers can scan when arriving at their cash & carry, the second shows how much they have spent in the past month and how much more they need to spend to get a discount, and the third details its latest offers.
