Six people have been jailed for their part in a raid on Makro’s Reading branch during last summer’s riots.

About 40 people broke into the depot after midnight on 10 August and looted £15,000 of stock.

The longest sentence was handed to Conall Bascombe-McCarthy, 19, who was jailed for five years for violent disorder, burglary and drugs offences. His sentence included two 12-month sentences for violent disorder and burglary, to run concurrently.

Three men were sentenced to between 14 and eight months in prison for violent disorder and burglary. Two more were jailed for six months for handling a stolen TV, which they claimed to have found in the woods.
