York Uni to trial c-store retail course

Costcutter is piloting a new Diploma in C-Store Retailing at the University of York.

The diploma will be available to all Costcutter retailers in the next few months and is now on trial with managers of Costcutter's company-owned stores as well as head office staff.

The diploma has four modules: managing retail operations; finance; managing people in a retail environment; and business development. It involves classroom training, virtual learning and practical assignments.

"The diploma aims to support new and existing retailers to develop and grow their businesses," said David Watson, head of people at Costcutter. "We are the only group offering this level of support. It is vital retailers are given every opportunity to not only stay afloat, but to grow and develop too."
