johns of instow

Last year’s winners Johns of Instow and Appledore, from Devon

The finalists have been announced for the third annual Farm Shop & Deli Awards.

Held in partnership with deli chain Olives Et Al and organised by The Grocer’s publisher, William Reed Business Media, the event celebrates the specialist independent retail market, recognising its highest standards, best service, product innovation and community involvement.

The awards commend retailers’ success in both speciality sectors and regions. Category prizes up for grabs across 12 specialisms include Baker of the Year, Local Shop of the Year and Greengrocer of the Year. The regional winners will be selected from the category finalists and declared live during the Farm Shop & Deli Show at Birmingham’s NEC on 18 April, when the name of the overall winner will also be revealed.

“The awards are an excellent way to reward those leading the specialist retail sector,” said the show’s event director, Jack Halliday. “They set an exceptional industry standard across the categories and regions through targeted innovation and true understanding of what makes consumers tick.”

Nigel Barden, chairman of the judges, added: “The artisan food and drink market is particularly competitive, and it’s crucial we recognise those who are championing the sector by leading from the front. It’s important they can be acknowledged by the public and their peers in the trade.”
