STOBART LORRY

A group of former Tesco delivery drivers who claimed to have been unfairly sacked by haulage company Eddie Stobart this week reached an out-of-court settlement.

The 184 drivers, made redundant in 2012 when the company took over the contract for Tesco’s Doncaster DC, had been due to have had their case heard at a tribunal in Sheffield this week.

The dispute began after Eddie Stobart announced job losses in a restructure and led to industrial action, which ended in January 2013 when the drivers accepted an improved redundancy package.

Neither the company nor the drivers’ union, Unite, would comment on the details of the settlement.
