SABMiller has granted eight executives shares worth £3.8m under its executive share award scheme.

Members of the drinks company’s management team were given 117,150 ordinary shares under the company’s executive share award plan 2008. All of those receiving shares sold a portion of their award at 3,227p per share to meet tax liabilities.

SABMiller CEO Alan Clark and Norman Adam, chairman, SABMiller Beverages South Africa, received the largest share awards. Both were granted 24,750 ordinary shares, currently valued at £799k.

Recently installed group CEO Clark received a pay package worth £6.7m (including share price growth) for the year ending March 2013. His base pay for the year ending March 2014 was £1.1m.

Last month the brewer of Peroni, Grolsch and Miller reported a 3% rise in full-year revenues.

The brewers share price has risen by 164% over the past five years, largely on the back of strong growth in emerging markets. The shares are currently trading 12.7% down on the five-year high recorded in May last year of 3,683p.
