It’s the sort of opportunity marketers dream of - a couple of panda bears are capturing the hearts of the nation and you represent Panda Liquorice.

So it’s no surprise the company has developed a new product, Strawberry Bear, to celebrate the arrival of Tian Tian and Yang Guang, the first pandas to come to the UK for 17 years. The supplier will be donating proceeds from its new liquorice line towards the care of the duo, who arrived at Edinburgh Zoo last weekend.

Sold in an 80g bag (rsp: £1) the sweets are made with all-natural ingredients and sweetened with strawberry purée. They roll out next month to Morrisons, independent health food stores and Edinburgh Zoo.

“As soon as we heard about the pandas coming, we contacted the zoo to see what support we could offer,” said Lisa Gawthorne, MD at Panda’s UK distributor Bravura Foods.
