Festive orders soar at Riverford Organic

Riverford Organic is expecting a bumper Christmas with orders of mince pies and turkey already up 31% and 20% respectively.

Last year, Riverford raked in £1.5m in sales during Christmas week, but this year it anticipated an 8% uplift based on orders received so far.

Riverford mince pies had acquired an excellent reputation over the past few years and as a result, shoppers were buying more of them, the company said. Fulfilled orders were up 20% to date on last year.

Its turkey sales were strong because consumers were placing increased importance on provenance and taste, it said.

It has also doubled the availability of its ‘Everything but the Turkey’ Christmas hampers, launched this year, due to “exceptional demand”. The £45 hampers include vegetables, clementines, blue Stilton, mince pies and a Christmas pudding.
