Premier plant in the clear over botulism

The FSA has found no evidence of botulism at Premier Foods’ factory following investigations into its Loyd Grossman branded korma sauce.

Two weeks ago, a batch of Grossman’s korma sauce was recalled after a 10-yearold brother and sister were hospitalised in Scotland with the potentially lifethreatening illness.

The update from the FSA came after a third child from the same family was admitted to hospital with suspected botulism poisoning. This week it said further investigations would continue to focus on what happened to the product during transport, storage and its use after it left the company’s control.

“We remain very concerned for the family involved,” said Premier Foods group supply chain director Bob Spooner. “We are pleased the FSA has found nothing, to date, to suggest a problem occurred in our factory.”
