With one year to go to the London Olympics, Cadbury is ramping up the rollout of new Olympic-themed products.

Cadbury Mascots twin-pack, in Morrisons from 1 August, contains Olympic and Paralympic mascots Wenlock and Mandeville made out of bubbly chocolate (rsp: 60p). Nationwide distribution starts in September.

The company is also launching Bassetts Jelly Mascots jelly sweets in the shape of the Olympic mascots exclusively into Sainsbury’s this month, before a national rollout from mid-September. Sold in sharing bags, they have an rsp of £1.49.

“Mascot products made up 45% of the $1bn retail sales generated by the Beijing Olympics,” Susan Nash, trade communications manager at Cadbury owner Kraft Foods explained. “Some 80 million products were sold at Beijing.”
