Fivemiletown ties up big Asian supply deal
Northern Irish cheese producer Fivemiletown Creamery has secured a landmark distribution deal with one of Asia’s biggest retailers.
The company said it had just started supplying a range of Cheddars and soft cheeses - including an Irish goat’s cheese - to Hong Kong-based Dairy Farm International Holdings.
Dairy Farm operates the Wellcome chain of supermarkets, and is active in Hong Kong and mainland China as well as Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Fivemiletown’s cheeses will initially be on sale on a trial basis in Hong Kong only, but the company hopes other markets will follow if the trial goes well.
