Sainsbury’s has great eggs-pectations for Pancake Day
Sainsbury’s expects to shift an extra 7.2 million eggs before Pancake Day tomorrow.
The supermarket also predicted it would sell an extra 53 tonnes of flour and a million more lemons. Sugar sales are also expected to increase by more than 35%.
“Given the huge surge in sales we’ve witnessed in the past couple of years in the run-up to Pancake Day, we’re predicting another cracking year for the nation’s flippers,” said product development chief Susi Richards.
“This year we expect an American influence on our shopper’s pancakes with fillings such as maple syrup and bacon, or peanut butter and chocolate chips. Other fillings worth experimenting with this year include salted caramel, which is the perfect partner for banana or chocolate spread.”
