Scotherbs field of herbs

Herb supplier Scotherbs has been acquired by Langmead Group

Scotherbs, the fresh culinary herbs grower, has agreed to be purchased by fresh food, farming and property business Langmead Group.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, would “further support Scotherbs’ plans for growth”, said Scotherbs chairman Robert Wilson.

Scotherbs supplies fresh herbs to retailers, foodservice operators and food manufacturers across the UK, and employs 105 people at its site in Longforgan, Perth & Kinross, where it farms approximately 250 acres in the surrounding area.

“Scotherbs will operate as a distinct business within Langmead Group,” said Langmead CEO Ian Summerfield. He added the agreement would “further build on Scotherbs’ skills, Scottish growing and packing capabilities” and its “distinctive provenance and reputation” and would give the grower access to investment funds to support its long-term growth plans.

“There is very strong alignment in each business’ approach and values,” he added.

Scotherbs last week announced it had secured a contract to supply 25 own-label herbs for Sainsbury’s branches across Scotland, Northern Ireland and North West England.
