Toiletries specialist H&A is launching a licensed haircare range for children featuring characters from Disney and Cartoon Network brands.

The four-strong range, rolling into Wilkinson at the end of next month and Tesco in February, comprises a hypoallergenic conditioning shampoo and detangling spray featuring Disney Princess Ariel and conditioning shampoos featuring Minnie Mouse and Ben 10 (all rsp: £2).

Targeted at children aged three to six, each product was made with a gentle and mild ‘no tears’ formula, said H&A , which claimed the range was the first licensed haircare launch for children - although it has previously launched licensed products for the baby market.

The range would plug a gap for an “easy-to-use, good value” offering that would appeal to parents and children alike, said marketing manager Holly Davies. “Until now, parents have had a limited choice when purchasing children’s haircare and the sector has lacked exciting products,” she said. The range would tap into this opportunity and bring growth to the sector, added Davies.

“As experts in the licensed bath sector, we are ideally placed to access this undeveloped market,” she said.

In June, the company added a range of baby and toddler bathtime products featuring popular licensed properties including Disney Fairies, Finding Nemo and SpongeBob SquarePants.

H&A, which has invested £200,000 in the development of the products, expects further retailers to carry the range next year.
