Lidl set to roll out bakeries to all stores
Lidl shoppers could soon be snapping up bargains amid the heady aroma of freshly baked bread.
The German discounter is poised to begin rolling out in-store bakeries across all of its 580 UK stores after successful trials in Newcastle. A spokeswoman said the in-store bakery “had gone really well” but could not reveal exactly when the rollout would begin.
However, a store manager on Lidl’s new Facebook page said “all stores will have bakeries very soon” in response to a customer asking why Lidl stores in Ireland had the bakeries but UK stores didn’t.

The Lidl bakery is excellent. Particularly, the fantastic Rye bread. When will Nuneaton's Lidl get it's own bakery?
Well done Lidl.

The local store is now up and running with its bakery, The Rye bread is great - what about the other 300 German breads? 2 to 10 more different breads will make a big difference. You can do it Lidl.

I first saw the instore bakeries of Lidl at their Benwell Store in Newcastle in the North East of England earlier this year. I am a Scot, and I have a local Lidl store at the bottom of my street where I live in Dalry, North Ayrshire. It never had an instore bakery until now and it has just opened a few days.
I have bought lovely warm piping hot freshly baked bread like Tiger Loafs and Tin loafs and their apple turnovers are delicious. The bread is excellent for having homemade soup in a winters day.
This was quite handy for local consumers because we just had one of our local bakers shop close down a couple of months ago. The food from the instore bakery is of the highest quality. I can't wait to go back to my local store to try more.
My local store has become a lot of busier now due to the instore bakery being there. I think Lidl are now on a winner with the instore bakeries. If you have not tried them, then I urge you to go there soon , hoping that you too will enjoy the Lidl Instore Bakery Experience.
