Skylanders continue to fly off the shelves

Activision’s Skylanders video game proved a hit over Christmas and retailers are currently selling out as soon as product hits the shelf.

Starter sets for Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure come with action figures and a ‘Portal of Power’ that can be connected to a regular games console. Players place figures on the portal to bring characters into the game, and swap them when they want to change character.

Activision produces expansion packs but they are proving scarce. A Tesco spokeswoman said sets were selling out quickly, while Asda expected demand to outweigh supply.

A new wave of figures is expected to hit stores in the next few weeks.
