Tesco gets cracking for Easter four months early
Christmas might still be fresh in the memory of many consumers but the first Easter eggs have already hit supermarket shelves.
Tesco introduced a wide selection of chocolate eggs to shelves on Boxing Day – four months before the Easter weekend.
Despite the start of the now-traditional dieting season, Tesco seasonal confectionery buyer James Waugh said there was great demand for Cadbury Creme Eggs in particular.
“Unfortunately for their huge army of fans, Creme Eggs are only available from January 1 until around Easter time and that’s why we see a huge clamour for them as soon as they go on sale,” Waugh told The Argus newspaper.
