The UK’s biggest feed manufacturer, BOCM Pauls, is to be taken over by Dutch company ForFarmers in a €85 million deal.

The acquisition is subject to clearance from EU competition regulators.

ForFarmers has been growing aggressively of late, recently acquiring compound feed business Hendrix recently. It now sells about 6.5 million tonnes of feeding materials a year. BOCM Pauls has an annual sales volume of more than two million tonnes.

BOCM Pauls CEO Bill Mayne said the coming together of BOCM Pauls and ForFarmers would create a new group which would be “the clear market leader in Europe”. BOCM Pauls would trade as the UK arm of ForFarmers and enjoy “a high degree of autonomy”, he added.

ForFarmers CEO Bert-Jan Ruumpol said the acquisition of BOCM Pauls was a major step in ForFarmers international growth plans.
