How have your staff reacted to the win? It’s sent a lot of excitement through the store. Your mystery shopper visited at one of our busiest times, and the weather was really good too, so it made the win even sweeter. We’ll definitely be celebrating.

How was trading over the hot weekend? Very, very busy! But we did really well and that continued right up until, and including, Monday. We’re hoping the weather over the bank holiday will be good too.

Sainsbury’s recently launched the ‘Try the By Sainsbury’s range’ campaign in stores. How has this been received at Burpham? It has been really successful. With Basics, By Sainsbury’s and Taste the Difference, Sainsbury’s own label has something for everyone and we know shoppers are choosing to mix and match those when they shop.

Are you planning to make any changes to the store soon? At the end of June we are getting a partial refresh for our clothing and general merchandise, with new equipment. GM, clothing and online are expected to play a big part in Sainsbury’s success over the next year.

And have there been any changes recently? We had a Bureau de Change installed in March. This will be its first summer, so it will be interesting to see how it gets on.

This is Sainsbury’s 20th store of the week win this G33 year. Why do you think it is doing so well? We are constantly encouraging colleague engagement with customers. Customers are demanding an increasingly higher level of customer service, especially at Sainsbury’s. In our store everyone goes through training and we have regular internal mystery shops. We also have daily meetings where we encourage people to smile and make eye contact with customers.

Is your store ready for the World Cup? Yes. We’ve already got a lot of merchandise out and we’ve got a TV at the front of the store showing football.
