Paul Toplis, technical director of Primary Diets, has been named the winner of this year’s David Black Awards, which recognises outstanding achievements in the pig industry.

Accepting his award from food and farming minister Jim Paice this morning (2 November), Topli – who has spent his life working in the feed industry – called on his peers to focus on effective communication and collaboration across the supply chain to ensure the future success of the industry.

Bpex director Mick Sloyan, who chaired the panel of judges, said Toplis had worked “tirelessly, with modesty and enthusiasm” to help pig producers.

“Through working in a quiet and determined way across the whole spectrum of the industry, including farmers, feed suppliers and vets, he has made a significant contribution over many years,” Sloyan added.

Primary Diets is a division of AB Agri.
