Popcorn brand Metcalfe’s Skinny Topcorn - which was created by Pret A Manger and Itsu founder Julian Metcalf - is launching a popped tortilla-style snack.

Metcalfe’s Skinny Corn’ers, which roll out next month in 30g impulse bags (rsp: 89p), are popped using griddling rather than frying. They will be sold in Chilli Tweet, Cheese Louise and Corn off the Cob, with the first included in a meal deal in Tesco. Metcalfe’s Food Company plans to expand the snacks into sharing bags in January.

Popped products are a growing part of the bagged snacks market, with Kellogg’s Special K Cracker and US brand Popchips among a number of launches in the UK over the past 18 months.
