Tony Watson is to become off-trade sales director at Carlsberg UK

Carlsberg UK has restructured its executive sales team creating two new roles to replace the one that was left vacant by its current UK chief executive officer.

James Lousada had covered the position of UK sales director on an interim basis until he was appointed CEO in January 2014 but the lager brand has since scrapped the role in favour of separate on-trade and off-trade directorship titles.

From 3 November, current marketing and strategy director and existing executive committee member Darran Britton will become on-trade sales director, while Tony Watson, currently director of take-home sales, will head up the off-trade sales director role.

Under the new arrangement, both men will report to Lousada.

Britton joined Carlsberg UK in 1993 as a graduate trainee before rising through roles in business development and marketing. He was appointed to the UK board in 2006.

Watson, who has worked in his current position for just over a year, was recruited as a sales representative in 1995 and has progressed through various commercial roles across on-trade and off-trade sectors, including logistics, technical services, operations and sales.

“The appointment of Darran and Tony to these core roles within the UK business is an important step in delivering our strategy,” Lousada said.

“We strive to be the best partner for our customers, through our brands, service and most importantly, our people. The new shape of our executive team demonstrates our drive and ambition to becoming the best beer and beverage business in the UK.”
