Spar has recruited Mark Steven to the new position of business development controller as it looks to grow its symbol store estate.

Steven will focus on national accounts - where a larger company signs up to the symbol group for multiple retail sites. Of Spar’s 2,500 UK stores, 190 are national account stores, including Haven, Total and ISS.

Steven will also be responsible for sharing best practice in retailer recruitment around Spar’s five wholesalers.

“I am committed to driving store numbers through the acquisition of national retail accounts, attracting new retailers to Spar and sharing information and best practice from around the business,” he said.
