convenience store basket spend GRS

Convenience stores stand to lose substantial trade by failing to offer shoppers healthy options, Him! research shows.

In a survey of 10,000 shoppers across the world, 14% of Brits said they were deterred from shopping in convenience stores when there were not enough healthy options, while 22% were put off when fresh foods were of poor quality.

This potential loss of business exists even though just 37% of UK respondents described themselves as healthy and health-conscious. This put UK shoppers ahead only of Russia (35%) and Japan (30%) on this metric.

More French and Taiwanese shoppers than any other nationality regarded themselves as healthy, at 47% each.
