Tout’s Budgens in Somerset has installed LED lighting that it claims will knock £10,000 a year off its energy bill.

The indie has replaced fluorescent lights with over 100 LED lights that will last for nine years at its store in Cheddar.

The move would save a further £12,880 on routine maintenance and also cut air conditioning bills because LED lights gave off less heat, said Tout’s. The lights are also fully sealed so do not attract dust or insects.
