Sales have continued to fall at newspaper and magazine wholesaler Menzies Distribution. In a trading update for the four months to 31 October, released this morning, Menzies said its underlying revenues had fallen 4%.
Price hikes meant third-quarter profits rose at the world’s largest brewer, despite a slight dip in beer volumes.
Food sales comfortably outperformed the rest of UK retail over the past three months, figures from the British Retail Consortium show. On a like-for-like basis, food sales between August and October were up by 1.8% over the equivalent term last year – and up 4.9% overall.
