Almost £200,000 has been pledged by the British Pig Executive (BPEX) to improve co-operation along the supply chain.

A total of 11 projects have been accepted in this year's round of the scheme, which has been running for four years now.

Companies involved in the projects include East Anglia Food Link, Geo Adams and Sons, Royal Berkshire Pork, Lakes Speciality Foods, Priors Hall, and Packington Pork.

The aim of the scheme is to help small companies develop ideas that should bring an improvement to the British pig industry.

The successful projects included developing a local branded fresh pork supply, developing locally sourced production for butchers, farm shops and packers, and creating a new range of products requested by customers.
