Pilgrims Choice is negotiating its troubled category with aplomb, up £2.7m on volumes up 5.1%. Low prices and ads calling on home cooks to ‘pump up the flavour’ have helped. And it claims it’s well placed to deal with future challenges. “The key issue is security of supply and Ornua, the world’s largest buyer of UK Cheddar and with its Irish supply base, is well placed to service strategic partners post-Brexit,” says marketing director Mark Harper.
