John Smith's has renewed its sponsorship of the Grand National until 2013, as race organisers admitted many rights holders were struggling to attract similar deals.

The Scottish & Newcastle brand has partnered Aintree Racecourse since 2005 and claims to be horse-racing's biggest commercial sponsor.

"Securing John Smith's support for another three years is great news for the Grand National and a massive vote of confidence for jump racing as a whole," said Aintree managing director Julian Thick.
