Magners maker C&C Group is set to buy The Gaymer Cider Company from Constellation Brands for £45m.
The transaction would allow C&C to add the Gaymers, Olde English and Blackthorn brands to its current portfolio.
The latest deal keeps C&C on the acquisition trail after the group in September paid AB InBev £180m for the Tennent’s lager brand and Scottish distribution rights to brands including Stella Artois and Budweiser.
"We are pleased to announce our agreement to acquire The Gaymer Cider Company at a price which we consider to be highly attractive for our shareholders,” said C&C boss John Dunsmore.
“This transaction strengthens our position within the world’s largest cider market and broadens the scope of the group’s existing cider offering.”
The deal, which will be financed by a new bank facility of £60m, is not conditional upon clearance by the UK Office of Fair Trading but will be subject to review by the body.
