Costco has reported a 9% increase in sales to $46.66bn for the 35 weeks to 2 May.

Easter had also helped boost sales by 13% to $5.18bn in the four weeks to 2 May, the wholesaling giant said.

International sales, which include Costco’s 21 depots in the UK, rose 22% in the 35 weeks and by 29% during April.

“Inflation in gasoline prices and strengthening foreign currencies had a positive impact on comparable sales,” the company said.
