United Biscuits fought off some stiff competition in this year's FDF Community Partnership Awards to scoop several gongs.

UB earned a gold award for its work in the environment with its Achieving Sustainability programme, alongside gold SME winner the Authentic Food Company. It bagged silver in the health & wellbeing category, bronze for workplace wellbeing, and also became the first recipient of the FDF President's Award, introduced this year to acknowledge the best overall company or initiative from award winners.

General Mills won gold in the local community category; Asda in culture, media & sport; Unilever in workplace wellbeing and CCE in education.

"This year's winning schemes show what can be achieved when companies are committed to making a difference," said FDF director general Melanie Leech.
