The Imperial Leather maker said profitability in the six months to 30 November had been marginally ahead of the same period last year on broadly flat revenue.
In the UK, the trading environment was “very competitive”, the company said, with high levels of promotional activity, particularly in shower gels and handwash.
However, it added that new product launches across all brands had been “well received” with premium brands The Sanctuary and St Tropez performing “particularly well”.
“We remain cautious about the trading environment for the remainder of the year, given continued high levels of promotional activity,” the company added.
