Vimto maker Nichols has claimed a significant increase in profits in its latest trading update.

The soft drinks group said trading had been “excellent” in the second half of 2010, with profits up on last year and ahead of previous expectations.

“Full-year 2010 revenues are once again well ahead of our internal plans, with operating margins that will be in line with plan,” the statement said.

Nichols also announced the appointment of a new non-executive director, with former Grant Thornton accountant Eric Healey joining the board. He will chair the audit committee, replacing the outgoing John Bee.
