Bidvest 3663 has urged customers to prepare for changes to food labelling regulation after it found nearly a third weren’t aware of forthcoming changes.

The foodservice giant carried out a poll that found almost 30% weren’t aware of the new EU Food Information to Consumers (FIC) regulations coming into force in December, which will require food outlets to provide detailed ingredient and allergen information for the first time.

“Our concern is for the 30% of the industry who are unaware of these changes which could prove extremely costly for them if they don’t start preparing now,” said Bidvest 3663 head of development Graeme McKenzie.
