Pepperidge Farm, the £414m American cookie brand, is set for a bigger presence in the UK following a new distribution deal with Bespoke Foods.

The cookies are the only authentic long-life, soft-baked American cookies in the UK market, claims Bespoke, which started distribution in May and has already won listings with 100 independent retailers.

It was now in discussions with the multiples about listings, said CEO Piers Adamson, predicting that at least one of the big four would introduce it in time for Christmas.

But the multiples were not its immediate prority, he said. "Our strategy will be to build the brand with the independent retailers and we believe that this in turn will provide a success story from which to sell it into the supermarkets."

With an rsp of £1.99 per 240g bag, the cookies are available in four flavours including milk chocolate caramel and oatmeal raisin.
